Rugby club install barcode scanners and let supports print their own tickets

Edinburgh Rugby have realised that they can make access to their games quick and simple using barcodes.

The rugby club have just introduced a new ‘print your match ticket at home’ system, which lets supports print their own ticket which features two unique barcodes. These barcodes can then be scanned at the turnstiles and entrance to the game is thus made quick and simple.

The barcode scanners which read the tickets were introduced to great success at a recent match against the Dragons and after the successful trial are expected to remain in place for future games.

The ticket services manager at Murryfield, Colin Douglas, spoke to Scotsman, he said:

“We’re committed to providing a top-class ticketing service for Edinburgh Rugby and are delighted to introduce an easy to use system already popular at a number of English Premiership football clubs.

“TicketFast is a quick, simple and convenient way to make sure fans never miss a match, never have to wait for tickets in the snail-mail or queue at the collections desk on match-day.”

It’s plain to see that barcode technology is moving forward all the time with many companies starting to realise the benefits that barcodes possess.
