Barcode labels for factories

Many factories are now embracing barcode and asset tagging technology as it gives them a competitive edge when they are looking to improve efficiencies.

Barcode technology has been in use for decades, but in this time it has mainly been used by retail establishments to provide a unique code to identify products. This unique labelling has been taken a step further in recent years however and barcodes are now being used on a variety of other items as well as standard good’s packaging.

Factories make use of barcodes on the asset labels they fix to all the items within the factory. This gives them greater control of all the items that they own so that they can streamline processes and make appropriate efficiency savings. And, as well as having barcodes attached to all fixed items around the factory, they also attach barcodes to movable items too.

In a factory environment a simple paper barcode label may not be as long lasting as is required to live out a usable life in the harsh environments that many factories in the UK have to cope with. And this is why barcode label manufacturers are now coming up with a variety of barcode label designs which feature more durable labels and tougher coatings, so the labels can withstand most things which are thrown at them.
