Using barcodes at work

Barcodes are an excellent way of keeping track of items in an office or other place of work. If each and every item has a barcode attached, the ease with which they can be found and identified is simple for all to see.
Barcodes can be seen to be useful in a number of ways:

• Goods tracking – Barcodes can be used by your company if they ship goods to other organisations. The barcode label, which adheres to the product packaging, can be used to identify the product and can be scanned at points along the way so the customer knows the whereabouts of the delivery.

• Inventory control – If you need to conduct regular stock takes of all the items you own it can be made much quicker and much more efficient if you use barcode labels. The barcode labels can be scanned by an electronic scanner and human error can be all-but eliminated.

• Electrical testing – If all your portable electrical items feature a barcode, they can be easily identified when they are due for an electrical safety test. This is especially important for items which may be damaged or in a poor state of repair.
