The many available types of asset tags

Asset tags are used for the identification and tracking of valuable equipment which may belong to a business operation. Asset tags are usually affixed with plastic ties or are affixed to an item using an adhesive material.

Asset tags are available in many different types, so it’s important that you choose the right one for your type of business. Some different types of asset tags are described below.

Void asset tags

Void asset tags leave a ‘void’ message if the asset tag is tampered with. These are good asset tags to use if the items to which they are fixed are hired to members of the public or in situations where the items are used on an unsecured site.

Barcode labels

Barcode labels can be used extremely effectively to control inventory levels of similar items in a workplace. The barcodes are affixed to the items or the assets and when a stock take of the items is conducted, it can be done so easily and accurately.

Asset tags

When asset tags are fitted onto every item you own, a database of the items can be kept to prove you are the owner of these items. This can be especially important for insurance purposes, when items may go missing and an insurance claim has to be made.
