The best colour for your label

There are some colours which attract attention more than others and it is these that you may consider when designing a new label for a product. Naturally we would not suggest that you ignore your company colour or logo but it may be just the time to consider a possible alternative.

You can possibly use graphics to incorporate colours and keep your text simple and readable while using a contrasting colour to the background. Research suggests that the use of bright colours attracts the eye and yellow is possibly the top one. Red is an attention grabber and should be used with black writing. Orange suggests autumn and it could be a useful colour for certain products, it tends to be underused so it is likely that your competitors won’t be!

Green is a colour that demands attention and is a good one to use where the reader is drawn to the product; it should not be used for script as it is hard to read and should be the background for black script. Black makes a statement easily and should be used for text on labels of all types; it can be creatively used as a background in small sections on the label. Black contrasts easily with most colours and is aesthetically pleasing.
