How To Stock Take Without Errors

Accurate taking of a company stock is vital to know just where a business may stand and is an important part of accurate accounting, but as with many things genuine errors can and do take place. In day to day matters this may not be too important and a genuine apology will suffice, but with company stock, particularly in the retail or manufacturing sectors it can be very costly.

Anything that can be done to eliminate human error is welcome and one certain way is to use a barcode system to as a method of checking business asset, in other words the stock on the shelves or in the warehouse.

Scanning the barcode on the asset tag or label can tell the computer just what the item is and its value, all this is stored in the memory of the computer and because the system is automated the database is updated and you can have all your stock figures at your command through the click of the mouse. The figures will be accurate and costly human error in counting or missing items are all but eliminated preventing time consuming and costly mistakes.

The requirements for a cryogenic label

A label which is used for cryogenic purposes is very special and it differs from a standard label or a deep freeze label for that matter; a label which is used on equipment or medical products that have to withstand temperatures of liquid nitrogen which is minus 196 o C to -210 o C.

Cryogenic labels require an adhesive that maintains strong adhesion at extreme low temperatures; a base film material that will not crack or chip; and printing that does not fade or wash off. We naturally can supply these printed to your requirements or they can also be supplied plain, and you can specify rolls or sheets.

Naturally we can supply labels for deep freeze purposes and these differ from a cryogenic label by virtue of the fact that they are intended for use in standard or commercial deep freeze units and are intended to withstand temperatures of minus 20C to minus 40C. The adhesive will perform excellently and will even adhere to surfaces that are already at deep freeze temperatures, with good adhesion to a wide variety of materials at up to minus 40C.

The best colour for your label

There are some colours which attract attention more than others and it is these that you may consider when designing a new label for a product. Naturally we would not suggest that you ignore your company colour or logo but it may be just the time to consider a possible alternative.

You can possibly use graphics to incorporate colours and keep your text simple and readable while using a contrasting colour to the background. Research suggests that the use of bright colours attracts the eye and yellow is possibly the top one. Red is an attention grabber and should be used with black writing. Orange suggests autumn and it could be a useful colour for certain products, it tends to be underused so it is likely that your competitors won’t be!

Green is a colour that demands attention and is a good one to use where the reader is drawn to the product; it should not be used for script as it is hard to read and should be the background for black script. Black makes a statement easily and should be used for text on labels of all types; it can be creatively used as a background in small sections on the label. Black contrasts easily with most colours and is aesthetically pleasing.

Vinyl Stickers

We believe that vinyl stickers are amongst the most versatile item you can choose for labelling a product or asset and they can be produced in a wide number of stock sizes, we have a range of over 5,000 stock cutters to choose from in different shapes and sizes including rectangular, square, circular and oval. Alternatively for your vinyl sticker, we can for a small fee always order exactly the size or shape that you specifically require.

With vinyl stickers, there are a number of options concerning the finish to these after the printing is complete. Depending of the durability that is required of the label, these can be made resistant to contaminants such as oils or greases and be water resistant as well. This may require a matt or gloss finish, using a UV varnish or clear polyester film we will be happy to advise you not just the finish of the label but the protection that can be provided for given conditions.

With regard to the adhesive applied to the vinyl stickers, this can be of the peelable, permanent or high tack acrylic, we have an adhesive that is just right for the type of application and the surface to which the vinyl sticker is to be applied.

Artwork design and the label

Because we manufacture labels, we know how important it is to get the artwork right and how good design can help a label to look the part and to help the product to sell, or to transmit an important message to the reader of the label or sticker. Artwork will always be submitted for approval before we proceed any further and the labels printed. Contact us by email or phone call away and one of our service team with be happy to discuss your artwork choices and particular preferences.

Extra durable labels

Tell us if you require labels that are likely to come into contact with a contaminant, this could be any kind of oils or greases; they may have to be waterproof as well in which case our standard paper labels would not prove suitable.

We can supply you with a number of alternatives and we will always be happy to suggest the most suitable if we have an indication of what contaminant the label is likely to come into contact. Some of the synthetics can be as polyester, polypropylene and vinyl as examples, if we believe that your label might need extra protection we can always suggest that you have this varnished.

By giving us as much information about the likely use of your label, we can recommend the right material and finish and this will ensure that we will provide you with a product that will meet the high standards that we both demand. For free advice or on any product or service we supply please do not hesitate to contact us.

HP and other high quality printing

Because we believe that delivering high quality ensures complete customer satisfaction and nothing stands out more to a prospective buyer of a product than it being displayed with outstanding print quality, at DataLabel we invested in what we, and many in the industry, believe to be the very best, HP Indigo printers.

For over 25 years we have been supplying printed labels which are of the highest possible quality, irrespective of their final destination, because we believe that from the manufacturer to the end user, rightly demand that our labels be clear and readable long after they left our factory.

We are constantly adding to printing equipment all of which allows us to print specific designs, colours and styles, importantly at the most competitive price, keeping our costs to a minimum we have invested in the latest digital print technology, so cutting out the cost of expensive plates and lowering the costs to you. Our main “workhorse” is the HP Indigo digital printer and we are able to print your labels onto paper, polypropylene or polyester materials, these can be UV varnished or laminated for added print protection and we also offer full colour print and Pantone colour matching.

Tamper proof security labels

For security purposes and to ensure that a product has not been tampered with or unauthorised inspection of the item, tamper proof labels is one way to ensure this, as well as being a reliable way to prevent a label being transferred from one product to another in an attempt to gain a financial advantage, or theft.
We can offer a choice of two types of security label dependent upon your particular requirements. For warranty as well as label transfer we are able to supply you with a label, which when an attempt is made to remove it the word VOID appears. This makes it clearly apparent that an attempt has been made to remove the label. Normally these labels would be of durable polyester that allows a variety of printing methods to be utilised, including barcode printing and full colour digital printing.
The second kind of tamper proof security label is the destructible vinyl sticker, this simply breaks should its removal be attempted. With this material any attempt to remove the label will result in this label breaking into small pieces, much like flakes of paint. A very popular label with our customers and again this can be custom printed to you particular requirement with barcodes, sequential numbering, or even logos against a white background.
