Barcode labels are taking over the world

Everyone has seen a barcode label. They are printed on just about every product we buy. A standard barcode label has a number of black and white lines of varying thicknesses, that when read by a barcode scanner can reveal a huge amount of information about that product or device.

Barcodes can thus be used as a form of asset tagging for different pieces of equipment. And for any company that wants to makes sure all its assets are accounted for at all times, affixing barcode labels on all their equipment is a pertinent proposition.

To cater to the demand for barcode labels, companies are now designing them in materials such as polyester and aluminium to give added durability. The labels adhesive backing is also being improved with new labels offering excellent adhesion characteristics, even when attached to unusual surfaces.

Barcode label technology is also progressing apace and there are now many apps on smartphones capable of reading a barcode label. So a customer who wants to purchase one of your products will simply have to scan the barcode with their phone to be presented with a plethora of information about the product which will thus be able to help them make their purchase decision.
