A few tips for speeding up stock take

If you are responsible for carrying out the stock take or inventory process within your business, you will know what an exhausting, time-consuming and challenging task it can be. It doesn’t need to be this way, as the following few tips will show:

• Do some preparation. Establish which areas and materials should be included in the stock take, as well as which areas should be a priority
• Identify items that are more difficult to count (i.e. tiny items, or hazardous materials) and come up with ways to counter these difficulties
• Find out in advance who to contact if any difficulties arise during the stock take
• Make sure all records are up-to-date and organised before starting the latest stock take

Barcode labels, retail labels and warehouse labels

One of the best methods of improving and speeding up the inventory process is to use barcode labels to effectively and quickly label all goods. Then, you can simply use a barcode scanner to complete your inventory or stock take. This saves a huge amount of time and improves accuracy and efficiency. Durable labels can also be found for hazardous materials or storage areas where temperature is an issue.
