What are the different barcode labels in use?
Barcode labels are as important a commodity for a company as the products themselves. However, it is often thought that these labels are only used in the commercial retail sector. This article lets you know how barcode labels are essential in a warehouse too.
A warehouse needs different kinds of barcode labels according to the items stored and their storage needs. There are four basic types of barcode labels used in a warehouse.
1. Location label – These are used to locate the different items in a warehouse. These barcode labels are usually placed on shelves and the owner is able to find the item he needs with the help of the numeric code on these label.
2. Reflective label – These are generally made of metal. The numeric codes on these are visible to the naked eye. Reflective barcode labels are generally hung from ceilings and can be scanned from a distance.
3. Floor labels – These need to be made of metal as they need to withstand the heavy vehicular traffic within the warehouse. They use highly durable adhesive as they need to be permanently stuck onto the floor.
4. Pallet label – These are the most used labels within a warehouse. Pallets and crates are seen with these labels stuck onto them. This is in order to keep a check on the different crates that are moved from one place to another.
